Default '73 Grand Am stripe color.

Greetings to you all. I'm a newcomer (see my introduction in The Lobby) with the first of many questions for you.

I have a Burma Brown metallic '73 G/A, here she is below

I have a ton of stuff to do on her but one of the things I wanted to find out are the correct colors for the stripe that runs from behind the side windows and along the flanks to the point on the nose, and the small stripe between the tail lights.

In my picture you can see against the Burma Brown paint, the sun damaged stripe looks brown and orange. Yet part of it further back which you cannot see in the picture looks white and orange, and the rear part of the stripe is so sun damaged it doesn't look like anything!

A silly question, I know, but I am a vehicle graphics guy by trade and if I'm going to re-stripe my car I want to do it with the correct colors against the Burma paint.

Any input on this would be fantastic. Thank you all in advance and hope you are all well.

Gary.

For your color car, the Brown/Orange/Creme stripes would be correct.

Be aware that there were two different stripe dimensions for a 1973 GA. Measure your old ones prior to ordering.

Here's more stripe info from fellow Grand Am owner and guru Horst Fiedler (PY name fiedlerh):

I took pics of one at Norwalk a few years ago that I think was Verdant Green, but it might have been Brewster, it was dark.

Wouldn't it be a lot less trouble to just buy the new ones from that link to Phoenix Graphix, ready to go in the right colors with instructions? The price is very reasonable.

I work in vinyl graphics so to me that price is extortionate. I'm not slamming Phoenix at all, it's just that I'm in the trade and there's no more reasonable price than $0.00. I just needed help with finding the correct colors.

There is no such thing as 0.00. Somebody pays in the end. I bought a set from Phoenix this year and they are great for $99.00. My best friend has her own sign shop and she couldn't reproduce these for that amount. And they have all the colors that came on the cars too.
