Default '73 Grand Am battery hold-down?

Hello all.

My Grand Am doesn't have a battery hold-down set up. The battery sits snuggly in the tray and doesn't move about, but I do worry about it, and also it was an advisory on the cars safety and emissions test three weeks ago.

I bought a hold-down kit from some cheap place but it appears the Grand Am is not so universal in this case, I didn't even open the package, I could see that two threaded hooks and a plastic bar held down with two wingnuts would not work.

I was hoping for some advice on the best hold down set-up. I've been nosing around the battery tray and I have one hook at one end and nothing the other end - I am assuming a speciality part? Maybe someone has a good picture they can show me, of what I need.

Again, I apologise for the silly questions, and any help will be greatly received. Thanks again.

Gary.

Here is the battery in my 1973 GTO. It is a group 78 battery with a reproduction "topper" from The Parts Place. There is a plastic spacer that was included with the purchase of the battery to bring it up to the correct height. The vent caps and Delco eye are originals. This shows you that the orientation of the vinyl dipped hold down clamp. Not shown is the "J" bolt that attaches to the hold down clamp.

This photo of my Can Am kinda shows the rest of it...

The parts are available in reproduction form from Ames Performance:

P117BF 1973-77 Battery Clamp (A-body w/V8) (APE) ............ 17.00/ea.
P117B 1973-74 Battery Clamp Bolt (A-body w/V8) (GM)..... 7.50/ea
P112P 1973-77 Battery Clamp Washer (RE) .......................... .50/ea.
P112T 1973-77 Battery Clamp Nut (RE)................................. .50/ea.

I would love to recommend PY, but they do not seem to carry parts for this generation car....

Thank you so much! That is a perfect picture, exactly what I needed! I am very grateful you took the time to post that, and the prices from Ames, you're a gentleman!
