These are supposedly the real deal and were restored by Carbking years ago.

Although I am told the factory never installed Corvette WCFBs on the Pontiac setup, racers did, and this is what those looked like.

According to the Pontiac Service Craftsman News No. 2, S-280, dated February 1956 (thanks Larry Gorden) the 285 horsepower Strato-Streak V-8 engine has two 7009820 Rochester 4 barrel carbs. (According to Len Sokol, a pretty good source, that is for HM equipped cars and standard tranny cars used 7010600 carbs.)
You can find a copy by looking at Larry Gorden's web site http://www.pontiacsafari.com/L1Early...ftsmanNews.pdf There is a bunch more info on these engines available nearby at http://www.pontiacsafari.com/L1Early...uad/index.html

Thanks guys. I know what the carb #'s are supposed to be but the tags are gone and these are not stamped like some of the 4GCs are. That made it a guess for me to determine if they were correct or not. My fiancé came across this setup for sale and stated she'd like to have it on the '55 we're gonna build for her.

Really difficult to tell from the pictures. Lots of missing pieces. The throttle arms are either wrong, or portions of the arms have been removed.
Here are two links of genuine carbs for comparison: http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/1956driverside2x4.jpg http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/195...gerside2x4.jpg To summarize others post, there were two different sets for 1956: Hydramatic - 7009820 Standard - 7010600 For 1957, 6 sets (3 sets H/M, 3 sets for stick) of experimental WCFB's were built by Carter and shipped to Pontiac for evaluation. These were: H/M - 2510s front, 2511s rear S/T - 2508s front, 2509s rear These do not have the crossover vents used by the Corvette. I was never able to determine what happened to the carbs. If the government had not pushed ethanol, and I wasn't so busy making carburetor kits because of the ethanol; there would have been a 7th set! I do have custody of the original prints by Carter. I am probably a minority of one on these forums, but having tested MANY 3x2 and 2x4 on the same engines, I truly wish Mr. Knudson had never made his infamous "the hot-rodders in southern California are using 3x2, so Pontiac will sell 3x2". Oh well. Jon.
