Guys,
Just curious about the popularity/desireability of the '74 TA compared to other 2nd gen. TAs?
This particular car has non-matching 400 with some bolt on aftermarket parts, Turbo 400, 4:11 rear, A/C, nice interior, less headliner, and is blue on blue. A couple of minor areas of rust.
Not running now, (fuel pump, distributor), but is being offered relatively cheap. Thought I might pick it up, get it running and offer it for sale later.
Not really up to speed on the mid-70's TA's, so any input would be appreciated.
ThanksOutrider52@aol.com

74 was a good year for TA's.

I like the 70/73 best but the 74 has a great look. Not many made, so it is somewhat rare. Also last year for reg fuel, so you don't have to have a Cat to be legal.

i have 74 455 t/a.one thing i always liked was the way pontiac took the crash bumpers and hid them behind a nose and tail section that looks good.they actualy make car look better.only a little over 10,000 were made,4990 with d port 455.cant remember how many were 400s.little over 900 SDs.hi nada on mine is 14,500 now.all 70s t/as are gonna sky rocket in price next couple of years.if you want one,now is time to get one.

Thanks for the input. I remember when you would see the 70's TA's on the streets like you see SUV's now. Where have they all gone? It is rare to see one in my area, even at car shows. Especially the "single headlight" models. When you do see one it's usually a '77-'79 model.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Back in '79-'81, I wish I had a $100 bill for every black & gold TA I saw on the steets. In this neck of the woods, TA's just blew Z/28's away as far as popularity/sales.
Speaking of late '70's TAs, my sister-in-law drove her '78 loaded TA into the back yard and left it....in 1992! Just parked it because the windshield was leaking on her feet when it rained. My brother bought her a Cougar XR-7 and the TA just sits in the back yard rusting away.
I had a buyer for it a couple of years ago, but my brother says he might do something with it "someday", just like his high school car '69 Mach 1 sitting in the garage in pieces that hasn't been touched since the early '80's.

Production from 70-76 was about 95,000 units. Production from 77-79 was about 275,000 units. That's why you see so many.
