When is an aftermarket input shaft needed in a TH400? I'm currently rebuilding my TH400 with all the HD stuff and adding a JW Transbrake. My GTO's race weight is around 3800#, and turned a best of 10.07 with a 1.42 60 ft. This was with about 150HP NOS. This year I'll be running 250 HP NOS. Should I get the shaft? ...ERIC V.

...you'd be amazed what that input shaft can take. I bet upwards of 1000HP.
Hate to relate it to the obscure: The GE T58 Jet engine output shaft is about the same diameter, about three time the length, with hot exhaust blowing all around it, and that is 1000HP in regular duty.
