Arrow Information on chevy - firebird conversion

I am seeking information that explains what is needed to be done to convert both a first generation firebird and a second generation firebird (70-73) to using a chevy 350, in particular a ZZ4.

V8 frame mounts from a 67-69 Camaro or 68-74 Nova for the first gen., V8 frame mounts from a 70-81 Camaro for the second gen. (I'm not sure if any other models fit the second gen.)
Fuel lines for the Pontiac motors run on the drivers side and the Chevys run on the passenger side, and a compatable trans as the BOP (Buick/Olds/Pontiac) trans has a different bellhousing pattern then a Chevy although there are dual pattern transmissions out there or adapters available.

A Pontiac tranny will bolt up to a chevy engine, but a chevy transmission will not bolt up to a Pontiac engine.

For these years, a Pontiac trans will not bolt up to a chevy engine, and a chevy transmission will not bolt up to a Pontiac engine. Only much later BOP had some dual patterns to fit onto chevy.

dont forget the starter is on the other side also, and some times the ALT. is in different loacations too. there are adapters to bolt the BOP trans to the SBC. you will also need all the A/C, P/S,and ALT brakets for the SBC, as all the pulleys, the fan shroud will be different too.

Default SBC into 1genFB

I have a 69FB w/ a 400sbc/auto (I bought it that way) that I would like to switch back to Pontiac. Car ran 13.2 in SLC UT however I may be interested in a swap. Steve 801 358 7636

*note* i asked this question when i was going to buy a car w/o engine and trans. I have 350 Pontiac now and wouldn't have it any other way.

Indie,

Smart choice... ZZ4s are not what they're cracked up to be, as is true with most of the GM factory "craters". We've seen tremendous issues with cranks and valve trains with people trying to treat these craters like REAL race engines.

IMO, the only "good" crate engines (Chevy) come from Dart, World and Eagle. BIG money...

If you guys are so against putting non-pontiac motors in pontiacs, then why do you even read this section of the forums?

From a finacial stand point I don't think I can afford to put another Pontiac in my bird, and thinking about putting a Chevy in it too.

Lost me, what do belly buttons have to do with anything? We all have buttholes too, but you don't see anyone pointing that out....
