Default Power Trunk Switch Install:

I am installing a power trunk release since the interior is apart for new carpet.
Has anyone installed a release switch in the console bin opposite the light switch?
Seems like the logical location to me get the power from the light and run the lead back to solenoid. The switch is 3/4" diameter I believe the correct switch is a smaller diameter. Does anyone know the diameter of the correct 67 switch?

In the 67' option cat they show the sw in the glove box on the same side as the light hole aprox 1-2" behind it at same level. Sorry can't help with size.

Thanks I do know that the correct location is the glove box.
I want to put the switch in bin compartment of the console , because of the reach to glove box.
I would like to know if anyone has the correct switch as i believe it is smaller in size?
What i am looking for is a switch similar in size to the bin compartment light.

I with you Kate.
I'm adding one also, but do not want to reach that far for it.
Let us know where you decide to put it.
I'm thinking of a little aluminum bracket in the console box to mount it, without buggering up the console itself.

Not sure of the size, but my switch is original to the car and it is on the left side of glove box.It appears to be much smaller than the yellow switch in the picture.
BTW my switch is black.

I do not see why a 67 release setup would not work in a 66.
Here is the pics of the solenoid for the trunk.

I would really appreciate if i could get the diameter of the switch. The console bin compartment light switch is 5/8 " in diameter roughly. This is the size of switch i am looking to put in the console. Tomorrow i will be building the interior back up as i finished installing the new carpet today. This is perfect working weather high about 60 and lots of sunshine.

the later 70's/early 80's gbodies had a switch about the size you are looking for. I had a few, but cannot find them. If I come across one, I'll measure it for you.

Can you take a pic of the solenoid unbolted from the latch?

How tough are these to come by?

Todd:

The solenoid appears riveted to the latch. I have the power latch assembly installed.
I see some power trunk latch assembly on Ebay, they usually go for $100 or there about give or take $. I will take a look today(Sunday) as i will be out putting the rest of the interior in.

Charles it is beginning to look like a bracket fabricated up is the only way.
Have a extra console will bring that home and start to see what i can do.
There is some small switches at place called The Source here (old Radio Shack up here)
will look at those again to.

Love to know what you come up with. My car is going to the painter very soon, so I am not in the time frame for figuring it out soon.

Pulled the engine and tranny yesterday.

Garage looks like a very nice size. Seems someone has been busy out in the garage.
Having car painted same color? Will do on the bracket.

Thank you, it was a 30 year dream. 27 ft deep and 30 ft wide, two story's, 2nd floor for storing all those darn parts out of the way!

Car was Burgundy new, but it's been two other shades of blue in the last 41 years. Leaning towards that 06 Corvette "Lemans Blue Metallic", with the Black Vinyl top back on. Can't seem to get it out of my mind!
