Default 65 Pontiac GTO data tag

I need help before I decide to purchase the guy that has the car is not much of a car guy but I'm confused on the data tag info because the car is from KAN and I thought that it would have a 5N code for a GTO also the tag as a W with no number and the vin reads 237375K6 I would like to know if that 6 states a 6 cylinder because it seems like a high number any help would be appreciated I'm going to try to leave a pic of the data tag but just in case the pic doesn't go through this is what it states W. 2WP. 5W. I don't know what the first w by itself mean and also no 5N did all Kansas car come with the 5N code any help is appreciated before I pull the plug

Yes - both Pontiac Michigan and Kansas City used the Group 5 process, and both should have the 5N code on the cowl tag.

And - yes - 237375K6xxxxx looks like a 6 cylinder VIN to me.

6 cylinder cars started with 600001 and probably didn't go very high; V8 equipped cars started at 100001 and would go upwards over 200000.

VINs started from scratch at each respective assembly plant and there was no correlation between plants.

The first W would be for Group 1 (but the 1 was typically not stamped for whatever reason).

Group 1 option W = tinted windshield.

2WP is Group 2, options W and P;
..........W = 2 speed auto trans
..........P = Radio, or maybe back up lamps. I seem to recall some controversy there.

5W is Group 5, option W which is the retractable seat belts.

You need to get the PHS.

It's the only way to be sure.

I agree with Keith, need to get the PHS to see what it truly is.
(at least for that VIN)

I'm not that good at the GTO's, but I would think the 06C on the cowl tag would be a late year build?

The VIN (which shows a 6 cyl car) looks like an early build?
