Default Rusty fuse panel clips

Anyone had success cleaning them? I was considering a small brush on a dremel or maybe trying to clean with some rust remover liquid. Searching around on here it seems some have used CLR but it did remove the lettering.

Mine might be too far gone, but I suppose it’s at least worth a try. No factory replacements for these I assume? Other than just cutting all the wires and splicing with fuses I guess.

I bought fuse clips from Del Mar Wire four or five years ago.

Give them a call.

Thanks, I’ll have to check them out. I was considering that as an option. It also makes me wonder…if I’m cutting the wires to splice new terminal ends on, would I be better off buying a newer blade style fuse panel and splicing them onto that panel?

I wonder if you could disconnect the harness, then un-bolt the fuse box and soak it in a container of Evaporust. My only concern would be if it takes the lettering off.

I bought a bunch of the clips from Delmare Wire and replaced them. Kind of tedious, but doable. There are a few of them that can't be replaced since they are atypical. You a good crimper that is the right type for the job. You really only have to cut off the last 1/4" of the wire ... most of the time. Some may have corrosion that runs up the wire a bit that might have to be trimmed off a bit more.

I've tried opening Delmar wire in a couple different browsers and it says the site can't be opened. Anyone else have this trouble?

Works for me in Chrome and Brave. But I can tell it's got a strange "fade in" effect applied which might present problems for some browsers.

Nice. I assume they weren’t quite as rusty as mine? Lol. Did you take the block off the firewall and soak the terminals?

I wish I would have taken a “before” picture. They were pretty rusty. I was amazed at how fast it worked. I just put some vinegar and salt in the ketchup base and it was still thick enough to stick on there. Like a gel.

Literally in 5 min I washed it off really good with water. Then I blew it all dry with compressed air and went over everything with some rubbing alcohol and more compressed air. Pretty amazing how clean it got. There is still some pitting from the rust, but it looks way better.

Wanted to make really sure I got all the salt and water off. I put some dielectric grease on all of the terminals and exposed wire.

Yes, exactly like that, each fuse is completely independent of the other with no common hot bus. This is necessary as the factory fuse block has multiple power feeds that need to be retained and using the right fuse block makes it possible to duplicate the layout.

That 8 position Hella you linked is the same as the one I got from ebay. I Cut the ears off and ditch the cover to make it fit.
