Default Is this interior 1964 color code 216 (Saddle)?

The PO changed the seat upholstery from what is pictured below to 65 Gold upholstery. I prefer the color of the old upholstery and would like to dye the current upholstery to match it. However, I want to make sure I buy the correct dye. The color on the trim tag indicates 216 Saddle - based on the pics is that what it was? Or do they appear as light saddle?

A pic of current upholstery next to door panel also included. The arm rests are also 65 gold.

One of the reasons I ask is Parts Place sells Saddle interior paint and it’s dark: https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/par...keyword=saddle

They also sell a Camel that looks like the old upholstery: https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/pro...2-oz-can/75684

And a 1970 Saddle that looks like it too: https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/pro...2-oz-can/75428

I have researched this a bit - since I am restoring a car with the 216 interior (Light Saddle). From your picture - It looks like your door panels are still correct to the 1964 code and pattern. As far as I can tell this interior code is unique to 1964 - and other years Saddle or Camel will not match.

To make things worse - the current vinyl offerings are incorrect. I am in contact with Legendary and trying to get a more correct option. Here is a picture of piece of original vinyl from an area protected from the light (center), with SMS "original" material and Legendary's reproduction.

As for dying your existing upholstery. I think you will have to have something made to match from the door panels.

Hopefully this is helpful...

Thanks - very helpful and discouraging that a suitable off the shelf color isn’t available. Thankfully my door panels appear correct and maybe will lead to a good match for the seats. I wish the PO hadn’t installed these seat covers. All but the drivers seat were in very nice condition - now gone.

The parts place dye matched my interior exactly (reproduction saddle) I needed to dye my boot cover.

Your door panels look really dark in this picture and the boot looks lighter - is your interior is 216 (Light Saddle)? And which Parts Place paint did you get for the boot-

M36 1970 Saddle Or S65 Saddle?
