Default Rocker molding interchange

My son's 65 Tempest (4 door) was missing the rocker moldings when we bought it. Can someone tell me if they're the same as a 66? If not, what years will fit?

Thanks,
Importsmasher

I know 64 & 65 interchange for sure. I think the 66's are different. Someone else may chime in...

As mentioned above 1964 and 1965 stainless rocker moldings are the same.
They curl out at the front where it meets with the wheel opening moldings.

1966 is a one year only molding.
These do not curl out in front. They are stamped the same way as the rear of the molding.

60sstuff, would a car that didn't come with wheel opening moldings still have the curl at the front? His car clearly came with rocker moldings, as evidenced by the holes for the mounting brackets, but there are no screw holes for the wheel opening moldings. Just want to make sure I understand what I'm looking for.

Thanks,

Hi Scott,

Yes, the ‘64 and ‘65 Tempest without the WOM still used the stainless rocker molding with the curl out at the front.

Below are two ‘64 Tempest from a brochure and a ‘65 Tempest Survivor.

The 64-5 are same for 2 door and 4 door, 66 is by itself, 67 is by itself for lemans and tempest, GTO being different I have a few of these 64-5 in driver condition, and would practically give one away, but shipping from Florida might make it a losing cause.

Andre, thanks for the info. What part of Florida? I'll be in the Orlando area in November.

I have the original rocker moldings from my ‘64 Tempest vert project. They are straight and tired but not beat up. I went with repros. I’ll send these originals to anyone willing to pay for a box/tube and postage.
