Default What’s it worth: 76 Formula

I don’t come to this section often but I came across a car for sale and I’m curious what everyone thinks it’s worth. It is a 1976 Firebird Formula automatic with A/C, 77,000 miles. Southern California car. I didn’t see any rust but I didn’t crawl under it. I doubt it has any issues. One owner car from what I’m being told. The guy passed away and his family is selling it.

I looked at it yesterday. Started up and ran smoothly. It doesn’t look as nice in person as it does in the initial pictures. Needs a thorough detail and to have the glovebox door fixed. The dash looked amazing under the cover. They say it is all original paint but I see signs that it has possibly had some touch up work (door striker has overspray… unless that is how 76 came?)

Opinions???

More… I think the red and blue under the hood maybe spray paint stuff the previous owner did.

I went to look at it because you don’t find survivors very often. I was told it has been garaged it’s whole life. I could believe that. The interior still feels fresh. It is now sitting outside and has been for a few months.

Is it a 350 or 400 car?
White with blue interior is stunning.
Looks pretty dreamy original to me, what is asking price?

400 car. I didn’t check it but I’d bet it’s numbers matching.

Asking 15k

Yeah it seemed odd to me as well. I figured that’s why he added the red paint.

The white on blue really is a great color combo 👍

Considering anything shiny is 20-25k today I don’t think 15k is bad at all. I was going to say $12k

Do you know if in 76 the factory painted the body after the door striker was installed or does this look like a repaint?

That I don’t know- my gut says repaint at some point because I would think if it was painted at the factory it would be completely painted not just overspray. But I’m definitely not up on that level of detail

Door strikers are often painted, the flaking off could be typical. It may also have had a repaint on the white over the years. 76 hood scoop stripes are not offered in repro.

Wonder if the hood is original since the rest of the car doesnt. look that bad ? Fan Shroud is original so dont think it was involved with a frontal. Cool combo regardless.

It looked original to me. I didn’t notice any difference in the shades of white in the paint. I’d wager it is all original sheet metal. Btw the doors opened and closed very nicely. It really is a solid car. I think my picture makes the rust on the hood look worse than it is.

It is a cool car and Im sure will find a new home. The motor compartment looks very original from cowl seal to fan shroud.

Appears to still be available 7 months later.
About 1990 a friend bought one of these very similar that was 1 owner.
Except Black Deluxe interior with 350 2bbl
Same exterior
Very sharp cars in that color scheme.
