Default 68 Firebird 4-speed Shifter & Linkage I.D.

Came across this shifter today... Supposed to be from a '68 Firebird.
What do the stamped numbers on the shifter denote...date code?

"11 7B2"

Does the linkage appear to be '68 Firebird?
What's the difference between Firebird & Camaro and '69 Firebird?

Thanks!

After doing some digging here and on the CRG site, I believe I've answered some of my above questions...

- Date code on '68 and very early '69 shifters... 11 7B2 = Nov. 1967 (B2 is an internal batch number)
- '68-'69 Firebird and '69 Camaro used the same Hurst shifter.
- Not sure about Linkage... '68-'69 Firebird same? '69 Camaro had different linkage depending on engine; any shared with Firebird?

That's a 68 Firebird all right. Even has the correct reverse lever.

Only difference in the 68 and 69 linkage are the levers. The 69 Muncie used a bolt to hold the levers on and 68 used a stud and nut. The levers are cut different. The rods are the same for 68-69 and the 69 Camaro.

if you want to use the reproduction 69 Camaro linkage, you can change the levers or add an adapter they make so you can use the 69 levers on the 68.

The reverse lever is different for 68 Firebird. It was used only for 68 Firebird.

Also, you will need the mount bracket to mount the shifter. The 69 Camaro hurst shifter bracket is the same.
