Default I Might Get to Drive it This Year!

After almost a year of sitting in the corner with plastic over it, I finally started working on the 64 GP again!

I have a serious attention problem, when I get bored I move on to something else. I painted this car 2 + years ago, the complete new interior has been in for at least a year & now I am back to working on it. Maybe I will get it done before I get bored again I am also building several other cars at the same time, so no guarantees, but I am enthused by todays progress.

I painted the engine & engine compartment a few days ago & this morning I put the rebuilt & replated booster & master cyl cap in. It also got a new steering box & a tilt column from Chuck Schuster!

I hate the way my phone camera washes out the interior color every time I take a picture of it. The last picture is my little girl on her shop bed watching me work!

God Bless
Bill

My 1964 GP has the same interior including the steering wheel! Your car looks much nicer though. With the way gas is going up in price you may not have any reason to hurry to finish it.

Thank you for the kind words Gentlemen!

I will be out on the road transporting till Wednesday, but am excited to get more pieces put back on when I get back! Most brackets & accessories have been blasted/painted ready to be installed!

Quick question....Should the oil filter housing be engine color or just silver for 64?

God Bless
Bill

It has been tough with my transport schedule & the fact that I got married on July 18th with subsequent honeymoon, but I am getting close & may have it running for the Nationals! I am on the road until Sunday & only have all day Monday & Thursday, plus a little time in the mornings on Tuesday & Wednesday to finish!

It did run & drive before I painted it & tore apart the engine compartment, so I don't foresee major issues, but there are always those little Gremlins! LOL

God Bless

Thank you Sir!

The trans is the bone stock "Slim Jim" (Original Engine & Transmission)

Back off the road this morning, cutting 5 acres today & an evening with the new wife, then hitting it hard again tomorrow morning!!! A "Goody Box" from Ames was waiting for me when I arrived home... Repo stickers for A.C & air cleaner, glass washer fluid bottle & a few other small pieces! Every time I see a delivery, I feel like Ralph the St Bernard in the Chewy commercial...."The Peanut Butter Box Is Here"

God Bless
Bill

Well embarrassingly, I did NOT get the GP done for the Nationals back in August, so the new wife & I attended & had a great time anyway seeing friends, making new ones & looking at all the great Pontiacs. It was also the 1st time my wife had ever been to a race track....She is hooked & afterwards sheepishly asked if someday she could take one of my cars down the track!

Picture below shows how far I got before the show, just needed some wiring & vacuum hoses routed. While filling the radiator, I noticed a big leak around the drivers side stud holding the timing cover (the one that holds the can style fuel filter bracket). Funny thing was I did not have the timing cover off & it didn't leak before! I got aggravated & stopped working on it! The next couple of times I was home to work in the shop, I worked on the 55 Nash Ambassador instead, I am also finishing up a complete detail of the engine compartment on that (other picture)

I did yesterday get some ambition built up to work on the GP...Ran the new headlight harness & put the front bumper on! I was going to install the hood, but didn't like how the paint on the underside laid down, so I will re-shoot that this week. I now need to buy another hood pad though as the brand new one I had for it ended up being used on the Nash! LOL Just a little trimming & it looked great!

God Bless
Bill
