Default 61 Questions...

Is there an original dealer selling price list out there somewhere for all the 61 Pontiac models?

What year 5 lug brake drums interchange....59-64?

Also.....just checked on Rockauto...and no rear shocks are available.

Any other sources? Thanks

5 lug drums are the same 59-64, for some reason RA doesn't show them for a 62 but 64 also used the big 9.3 rear and it has them listed for them. (raybestos 2265R) They don't look exactly the same (new replacements are finned vs OE smooth) but they fit fine.
Same with shocks - though I'm not sure if the upper mount is the same between 62 and 64, so you'd need to confirm. I have some KYB gas-adjust shocks in there now but not sure if they won't be changed out by the time its on the road.

Thanks...for the info

Drums are currently out of stock....

The rear shock listings ...are hit and miss 59-64 should be the same I think...

I found a cheapie Monroe rear....that should work.....I will advise when I attempt installation..

I asked the same question about rear shocks back in December, here's that discussion: https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=855458 Apparently the deal is the lower mounting stud is included with 1961 shocks but isn't included with 1962 shocks, so you have to press the stud out of your old shock and reuse it with the new one.

I have copy of John Gunnell's book '75 Years of Pontiac-Oakland' that was published in 1982 by Crestline. It has a limited amount of pricing info including base prices for some models as well as prices for a few options (for instance, base price for a Bonneville two door hardtop was $3,255, and 8 lug wheels were a $107.06 option.) If there's a specific model or option you're interested in, let me know and I'll check to see if it's included in the book.

The picture from the 61 manual in Stuart's post doesn't look like what I have on my 61 as to the lower mount. Probably the lower has already had the parts store replacement lower stud installed and had the "62" shocks installed. I didn't buy and install these shocks so I can't say for sure. But it would appear that with the replacement lower stud that 62 shocks should work. That tape is only in the picture from when I was considering adding a sway bar and wanted information.

Thanks for posting....I actually have a copy of that book that I bought...about 30 years ago......

I moved about 5 years ago......and the library is still a shambles........lots to unpack ...

I guess I'm "internet lazy".......but still love my car books/magazines..

I'd be happy knowing what the MSRP was on all four 61 Bonneville models.

You can buy universal shock mounting stud packages new that work just fine. I used them on my 1962.

Just wondering what the purpose/significance is....of this upper bumper bolt?

On my car it appears to be cosmetic....there doesn't seem to be a bracket behind it...

I've always wondered the same thing. There's no mounting bracket there, or provisions for some sort of optional guard or anything. I believe originally there was a snap in plug that went there, rather than an actual bolt.

Ok...thanks for the info....

'nother question for you.....

I want to install this gas door guard....and when I removed it from the parts car....it had 2 bumper bushings...with screw holes in it..

I need new ones and the replacement ones I see are just push-ins...

Any clues on where I can find correct ones?

Am going to invade the local True Value fastener isle....next week..

Don't know of anywhere that has those specific rubbers but you could check Steele Rubber or Metro Molded Parts to see if they have anything universal that's close enough. Another potential source is https://www.clipsandfasteners.com

Those pseudo bolts were used a number of times for years. The 61 has one on each side on the front as well. If I remember correctly Chev 49-52 had one at the center of the bumper. They got an unthreaded bolt that was held in with a spring clip "nut".

I will change out the torx screws...for some pan head phillips...and nobody will be the wiser..

Does anybody know the bulb #'s....for the dome/map reading lamp?

Thought they might be in the owners manual...but didn't see them there

Philips says 1004B2, and also references a 90 - do a google search and make sure it looks right.
This is a good tool, or in rock auto "electrical - bulb & socket"
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...-bulb+&+socket

1961 Shop Manual page 11-81 Lamp Usage. Has them all. Dome bulb 1004. And then I would be tempted to find the LED equivalent.
