Sorry I really wouldn't know the cost factor. The heads were mildly ported and 1.77 valves when I bought them. That being said I had to go with dished pistons to get to the 9.5 compression. I'm no expert but the cost of porting and dished pistons may be negligible to the cost of aluminum heads. Hope this helps.

I’m just more in favor of having a more comfortable car rather than one that annoys me nowadays. If I was 18 years old I’d think differently I’m sure.

The Crower cam would have a nice powerful rumble. A nasty sounding cam has its downsides, you’re stuck listening to that racket and it’s going to get poor fuel economy.

You have to decide if you want a race car sound or not. In a convertible cruiser quieter is better for me at least. If it sounds nasty it better run as fast as it sounds.
Is why my brother's 68 LeMans has the 2bbl 350 and 2-speed still, yet GTO Hood, Hoodtack, and 70 Spoiler.

That’s a nice match for your combo in my opinion.

I went against the grain with my 455.

8.3:1 compression, runs great on the cheapest 87 octane I can find. Stock pressed-stud heads, with upgraded valve springs, stock rockers/nuts/push rods ("66" castings). Mild low-lift camshaft (.443/.435), and old P4B intake.

I do have a very good exhaust system, and also an EFI system that controls fuel and ignition (makes for easy tuning changes, but I doubt makes any more power).

316hp/385tq to the wheels on a DynoJet, on cheap gas. Also runs cool, even in Texas summers. With a stock torque converter and 3.08 gears, it will still smoke 255/60 MT drag radials.

Press in studs and a P4B. I love it when guys run this stuff. Completely respectable dyno numbers too. Lee is my new hero. Viva Le revolution!
