Being networked with long time enthuasiasts/collectors/vendors is how I find parts, get relevant hardcore restoration information, & I sell quite a bit as well. Have never actively posted parts for sale on this site. Really don't need the annoyances of Faceboook anymore than getting caught up in the BS in the Street Forum.

On here I use my initials, fb Alan Dille. I use fb to keep in contact with family and friends that are scattered all over the country.
I frequent the various the group's on fb, especially Pontiac Midwest Connection, the GTO groups along with several others. No complaints about here or fb. I plan on using both for years to come and contribute what I can whenever I can.

Not on there, never will be. My 21 y/o daughter is she said most of it is political arguing. I do like the Facebook marketplace app though. She’s got it set to let her know if Pontiac stuff comes up, and can set the distance you’re willing to travel.

I used to spend hours here. Now I'm mostly on FB promoting our club or the Indian Uprising. I'm not sure who sees Pontiac parts on The Marketplace. I rarely see them there. It's my opinion that you have to be in a Pontiac group to see all the good parts that used to get posted here. If you want to sell a part quickly, the groups are where it's at. There are a lot of them.
I will admit there are good groups and no so good groups. Its all about moderation. I've never been hacked or had any issues with the app. All of my friends are there as is my family. There's enough there to keep my interest which is why I rarely come here anymore. My non-car friends learn a lot about my own interests (Pontiacs) and when we meet, we have more to talk about. Here: Old Blue 66 -Name of a blue LeMans that I don't own anymore FB: Paul Weinstein. PY is invaluable for information. It's like an encyclopedia for Pontiac do's and don'ts by many people far more knowledgeable than I. Its a great resource center for its rich history in the different forums. Something you don't get with FB. On the other hand, FB is in an invaluable tool for quick information. Every supplier to our hobby has a page for fast reference. Posting pics and video is just as easy as typing and its been a HUGE tool for marketing our show. Common misconceptions are: it's for old people, it costs money, its all political and its not safe. All not true. |
