Talking Gary (Muscle Collector) just sent me a picture.

She's not naked, but she's still dirty.

This car hasn't seen the light of day as long as I've known him.....until today. Thanks for sharing it with me buddy!

I know where there's a pristine survivor 63 4 speed split window in Bronze on Bronze with fuel injection sitting in a garage. Hasn't been started or driven in at least 25 years. Engine run on occasion... I don't know. Was his brother's.

I've always had a soft spot for those. My dad bought one in the early 70's from a guy in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. When he picked it up it was painted red, white and blue. I was a little kid at the time and thought it was so cool to ride in the back by the split windows.

I'm not sure of the original color, but it was an automatic car. Dad had it converted to a 4 speed and added side pipes. Some time in the mid 70's, he took it top a small body shop for repaint and during the process, the owner of the shop closed to go work for a private collector. He promised dad that he would finish the car, but after 2 years went by, dad brought the car home unfinished. It sat in our garage for another year or two and dad finally sold it to a friend in Waukesha Wisconsin. That friend sold it in the early 80's to purchase my dads business and I haven't seen it since.

Neat pic. Not to steal this thread, but if you guys know of anyone looking for a 'driver' 63 Split Window (if there is such a thing), we've got one for sale. It belonged to my stepfather who passed away back in 1984 and has been in storage since. We've put probably 50 miles or so on it since then just to keep it loose. It was repainted in lacquer back in the late 70's, so it has some pimpleing and checking. Non original 70 LT-1 Corvette 350-370 engine. 4 speed, Red, knock off wheels. 55k. PM me if interested

it was kind of a sad day today as I delivered the car to its new owner. at least it will sit beside a Pontiac like it has since 1979 so it will kinda be at home.
I bought the car in 1979 from the original owner and drove it around for about a month for probably less than a hundred miles and then put it in a warehouse where it sat until 1988 when I moved it to another warehouse. it saw daylight then for less than 30 minutes and today it moved for the first time since 1988. it literally has not moved one inch since 1988.
the car is a true original 32k mile fuelie 4 speed car. the original owner added the " California " taillight and removed the front bumper. he also changed the steering wheel and shifter but luckily he kept them and gave them to me with the car.

Congrats on the Sale , M_C.
Those were some super awesome cars in that body range.

At least the guy didn't upgrade/downgrade the back glass to full view version.
That was another semi-popular modify way back in the day.

I always liked the California taillights, and for some reason the C2's look great without front bumpers.

No telling how many C2's were treated to the same front and rear treatment back in the 60's. It was very popular and a great look. I still love it.

funny about the 400-4v goodness I hate those I now even hate them on the buicks that they came on.
I used to be a member of the vette club way back in the early 80's and really got sick of the arrogant attitude of if you don't have a vette you don't have anything. so I started telling guys at meetings that I was going to pull the engine out of the vette and put a Pontiac in it. it would just make those guys so mad they would turn colors. I had a friend take a picture of me standing on the fender of this one and another vette parked next to it and he would take it and show the vette guys. we would tell them I would do it so I could get a better view of my Pontiacs. needless to say I wasn't a member of the vette club much longer.

Some of the Vette guys I know are pretty good guys. But there are those belong to AA. And it's not Alcoholics Anonymous either.

But yet again, that goes with any car club or whatever group you have.

I like a lot of Chevies but the mid-year 'Vettes are the only ones I LOVE and still crave from time to time...

Such a common mod back in the 70s (when I used to beg my dad to take me to the local Vette shows). Mid-year Vettes were my first "gotta have one" car... but were already out of my price range by the time I was old enough to buy my own cars. Fortunately a Firebird 400 wasn't...

Cool car, MC. Nice that you preserved it so well.
