Default Weird gas pedal problem

I have the factory metal core rubber coated accelerator pad. I know it’s the way my foot rests but I keep bending it. Once it’s bent it makes it hard to take off smoothly. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions to stiffen the pedal?

The more you bend metal( or in your case something with a metal core ) and bend it back again the easier it will bend again and also that rubber outer layer is likely dry rotting and adding nothing in terms of added support.

I would say it's time for a new pedal .

I put a 66 pedal assy in my 64, as I really dislike the 64-65 design

What’s involved in this?

No not really, no one that has driven my car has said anything.

As I recall, it was a pretty straightforward swap once you get a donor pedal assy

If interested I think I have a spare pedal assembly from my 66 parts bin.

Edited to add that it is in rough shape but completely usable.
