Default Exhaust Ideas:

Years ago, we used perforated core glasspacks on everything and we felt they gave us the best exhaust flow. Recently, I have read articles by Kaase, Sherman and Vizard that indicate much higher torque production with glasspacks being used as an extension to the collector.

This got me to thinking.....

The way the inlets on the Flowmaster #42585 muffler enter the case makes it easy to eliminate the muffler with 2 simple 'J' shaped sections of 2.50" mandrel bent tubing. Adding 2.50" core glasspacks, approximately 24" long at the end of the collectors, would equal almost the 40" that Kaase feels is important for the highest torque production on a street car.

I will chassis dyno the car to verify the benefit (or detriment) of this modification, my question is 'A' do you think the plan has merit in a 400 HP street application (eventually) and 'B' what type of noise levels would this generate.

Thanks for your input...Robert

Robert, I have one of those PY crossflow mufflers with the louvered core. I'll make you a deal on it if you want it.
