Default Elgin Lifters Made In 2019

Reckon Elgin lifters were made in the USA back in 2019? Found some NOS with 2019 on the boxes.

Who knows but I doubt it.

Something that’s been sitting on a shelf for about 5 years isn’t something that I’d consider NOS.

Something produced 40 years ago yes, look for some genuine GM NOS lifters and be patient.

It’s not like those are necessarily bad lifters but they’re not something anyone should consider to be NOS and the origin country is likely somewhere overseas.

Yes I agree b-man. I’m too anxious to get this cam changed. I guess there’s always the Hy-Lift Johnson lifters that are for sure made in the USA. Just trying to save a few bucks since I’m retired.

Look at this link to Don Terrill's Speed Talk:

https://www.speed-talk.com/forum/vie...36327&start=15

It talks about Elgin lifters, and where they are sourced from, as well as other lifter manufacturers.

They come from a Delphi/Eaton plant in Mexico, so no they aren't made in the US. The plant makes OEM GM lifters and sells also to the aftermarket vendors. The lifters they are referencing are likely SBC lifters, so does Delphi/Eaton still make Pontiac/Olds lifters too?..........

This is a multi-page post and delves into where the aftermarket gets their lifters from. The Delphi/Eaton plant is supposed to be one of the best facilities for quality lifters currently. Evidently, they make all the OEM GM lifters, and they are of good quality.

My own experience with Elgin from back in the 70s was fine, but of course things have changed many times over.

The Elgin rep states that the Delphi/Eaton plant is trusted by them, because they offer a warranty on their parts, and want a part that they have the least trouble with because it's made correctly.

That's the best info I could find about Elgin lifters, and where they are sourced from currently. The Speed Talk posting was in 2022, so fairly current.
