Thanks for the link to the ad, Tom. No, I can't recall ever seeing it before- pretty neat! I also had forgotten that the "Chief Pontiac" sillouette was still featured in ad logos in '70.

Edit: Hey- I thought I could depend on all you readers to proofread for me- how'd you let me get away with misspelling 'silhouette'?

Hey Tom,
Put me on a potential customer list for a pair of those VOE II mufflers, authentic versions.

Thanks

Hi Mark and Mike and Jack and others,
We are in a lull awaiting welding time so no real progress to report. I am visiting with another specialty header welder tomorrow and if we can assemble them in three hours or so, we might be able to afford to use him and my other welder (when his time frees up in late Janaury).
Thanks for the comment Mike and next time, maybe we can have some real video and sound taken from a real VOE GTO. I know where one is now that is running fine with the new mufflers and in fact, it is the one pictured in the new Smoke Signals/POCI article.
Tom

Tom,

Thanks for trashing my Christmas! Since viewing this thread (and that awesome commercial!) I walk around my wife singing "All I want for Christmas is my VOE.." and for some reason she isn't being very receptive. It might have something to do with the price tag! anyways, two questions.....One, at the beginning of this thread you said it was a 69/70 option. Has that been narrowed to 70 only? Not that it would stop me from putting it on my 69, but to do that would require that vacuum switch. Is anyone pursuing the reproduction of the switch?

Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis, it was a 70 option only but since they built some in late 1969, that is likely what I was referring to.
For non-original cars that are running these, we have a litle toggle switch that hides away just fine and works well. I have not tried nor would I be able to try to make the switch and bracket. It is tough enough getting the mufflers built when I use people that are helping me outside of their normal jobs. Makes it cheaper but way more time consuming for sure.

Merry Christmas to you and your family Tom.

Thanks for the VOE mufflers, I wanted a set for a long time and when yours arrived last year I was very happy with them.

Tom, My guy was asking about a delivery date for his VOE's. I told him I thought in about 8 weeks. Sound right?

Hi Tom,
I just sent you an email. The good news is we are back building now with another welder. My other one will be busy for yet another six weeks.
We should get the stock sized units done first and then will start on the 2.5" custom sized ones, like (y)our friend's after that.
Talk to you soon,
Tom

Hi Bob, actually for the non VOE cars, we have a nice switch that does very well. Honestly, I have not worked on duplicating the stock switch. It is way too hard and complicated for me. The muffler is easy compared to the switch I am thinking.
