Cool Hell...

had I won the auction...I'd have dropped a motor in it and had it bracket racing within a week!!! Car was all there and as stated...not bad looking. Not looking like "A Million Bucks".....but not even close to needing a rebody. JMHO. Ron

This car in NO way needed a re-body. Car was VERY solid.

Thumbs up

I would agree, looking at the pics i have of the car from the original ad, there may have been some rust issues here and there, after being stripped, but no way would a rebody be needed! as far as having a couple parts cars for the resto, i know Scott had 2 or 3 wagons to use to restore the Randy Willams SD wagon, one was a "dry" Arizona/New Mexico car bought mainly for rust free nuts/bolts/clips,and other fasteners, hard to plate rusty bolts, etc! one of those spare wagons became Randy's "drag wagon"

I was at Scott's shop last August 2009, shortly after the car had been totally stripped, sand-blasted, some panels replaced, and primed. It was sitting on a rottiserie and I can tell you, it was the original car. This car was never a candidate for re-body. I will be in Detroit next month for the annual Woodward Dream cruise and will go out to his shop like I have done each year for the last 3 years. Hopefully, the car will still be there.

Well if that's the case I sure hope they have this car roped-off. Otherwise that aluminum front end might have a lot of boner imprints in it.

That error was painful enough to quit reading.
Seriously painful.

Keith,

Thank you for posting the pictures. It was a great honor for me to have been a small part of the project. The car looks great! Scott and his crew do top notch work and are great to work with.

Does the LeMans actually run??? The reason why I ask is that the engines paint is so clean and shiny. It looks like it has 20 coats on it.
Maybe that the secret to making it look nice and also allow it to be run without burning off the paint?

Also, I see on the interior pic that the camshaft tag was not put back on the dash. Any reason for that?

I didn't see them load or unload the car, so I didn't see it actually run.

I do know this: when Scott finished the wagon, he did not consider it "done" until it had made a quarter mile pass (...which I did see...).

My pleasure -

Ditto to the comments above. We wouldn't be standing here looking at this car without your efforts, too.

I was under the impression that the drag cars had rubber mats on the floors?

Car looks good.
