Sawyer got the rear ass. squared up and solid welded in today, also put in battery pocket supports, and should have enough room for a 20 gal. fuel cell "under" the floor.

Good news is it's coming along pretty well, bad news is we are out of tubing for the front rails, guess it's off to the foundry tomorrow!

Some pics of the progress,

Actually, I will probably steal some of R70Judge ideas, I really like his stock cross member WITH the rack and pinion on it.

Thanks Mike, appreciate it, just fooling around mocking some stuff up today. Should have the rear hung and in roller by Tuesday.

Couple shots of the mock up, looks like I will have plenty of room for the tires.

I don't know Stan,,,,I think you need maybe 2-3 more inches of rubber under there!!! You sure you going to have enough power to turn those things??

Thanks BG, can't wait to get it all mocked up and then torn down to go to the blasters. Have some work to do on the quarter that the tree fell on, and need some rear lower quarter patch panels on both sides, still not sure what I am going to do there.

Stan

Houston, we have a problem! Well we got the back all mocked up and everything will work out fine. So we moved to the front, which I was hoping was going to be a rebush the front end and repaint as we already tied the new tube frame into the old front stub.

However, after pulling the front end sheet metal off to go to the blasters, it became apparent that the front unibody structure was not in the best of shape and had several holes rusted though in key points.

So to make a long story short, I either had to patch what I had, find a new front clip to weld in, or just cut off the front end and most of the rusted out portions and replace with all new tubing.

The new front frame rails were ordered today, so I guess this thing will wind up with a full tube frame, not exactly what I wanted, but I think it will give me a better end product.

My own fault, I should have pulled the front apart first before assuming that it was salvageable. Just hoping it doesn't set us back to far.

Stan,
Have you considered welding in a later model subframe?

Hey Gary, yeah, I had several things going thru my mind yesterday, I guess the biggest issue for me was I really do like the factory fender wells and the way they look when finished, since we will probably go with a glass front end I really wanted to retain those so I didn't have to fab up struts for the front end, but I am just going to bite the bullet and do it right.
