WELTING UPDATE 7/14/2023:

Currently Available Colors:

Buccaneer Red: https://www.ebay.com/itm/165767811161

Cameo White: https://www.ebay.com/itm/165781756588

Starlight Black: https://www.ebay.com/itm/165633977660

Lucerne Blue: https://www.ebay.com/itm/164925318849

Platinum: https://www.ebay.com/itm/165929817785

Polar White: https://www.ebay.com/itm/166212838003

Brewster Green: https://wwwebay.com/itm/166228706702

Admiralty Blue: https://www.ebay.com/itm/166228708347

First Article Samples for Brewster Green and Admiralty Blue arrived and have been approved. I have added them both to the list of my Buy It Now auctions. There are only 2 each available right now, but more to follow in 3 to 4 weeks.

Polar White's Production is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I will be adding more quantity to that auction as well.

I also received some a Sterling Silver Paint sample and compared it to the platinum. They are so close to each other that I think the Platinum Welting will look very good on a Sterling Silver car. I do not have access to a Sterling Silver car for comparison, so if anybody with one in original paint would like me to send you a sample for comparison, your help will be greatly appreciated. I have added a photo of the comparison. The large color plate is the Sterling Silver one.

Thanks,

James

James,

Just bought the 2nd Brewster set on eBay. Will buy the 2nd when you get more in. Probably get a Buccaneer set while I’m at it. Lol.

Thanks,

Stuart, did you use the Lucerne Blue welting on your 71 Bird car?

John,

Yes used James’s Lucerne welting. Matched absolutely perfectly. Fit and flexibility is excellent. I used NOS flares and I think the flexibility was better than the original on the NOS flares and that allows a better fit even than the NOS.

Absolutely beautiful!!! I’m going to have to get an earlier one. I seem to be stuck on the 73’s and 74’s.

There was a thread “best welting adhesive/glue to use?”. There were some good suggestions made in the thread. Try looking on the second page on this forum. It was a little while ago.

I have seen 3M high strength weatherstrip adhesive used, and it worked well. They adhered the welting to the flares, holding it in position with tape until it dried then bolted the flare on the car.

The production runs for Brewster Green and Admiralty Blue are shipping tomorrow. I am hopeful that I can re-list their auctions next week some time.

The Second article for Solar Gold arrived and was approved! There is a new listing for the two samples I received on Ebay #166262274092. The production run will be ready in 3 to 4 weeks.

Thanks,

James

Thanks for reply after repaint my original flares and cleaning properly
try to glued the welting to the flare with this products

Permatex 80050 Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant Not Working
Permatex Super Weather-strip Adhesive Yellow Not working
3M Super Weather-strip Adhesive Black Not working

the problem is after apply very thing coating and wait about 3 minutes and reapply another very thing coating and wait about 24 hours the welting came apart not really glued, in the upper tips is the worst because the welting make 45 degrees in front and almost 95 degrees rear.

But surprise i clean again the flares and welting and use regular Krazy Glue with only few drops on the tips works in less than 2 minutes

started from the upper tips and glued only from the inside part of the flare with out bended the welting and wait about 5 minutes

and after bended and use very thin line all long from the inside part of the flare and glued perfectly with no mess at all.

after few days the welting still strong glued on the flares and the tips perfectly done that is the hard part, Just my experience Thanks
