The 68 442 Vert and 68 Hurst/Olds will probably be some of the best bargains at that event.
Olds don't usually sell particularly strong there

Definitely watching those. Debating taking a ride to see before auction since I am working when all except the yellow one crosses the block. Could bid online though after seeing. Nice one seems to be the 78. I'm guessing outta my budget, but you never know completely till you bid.

You're not kidding 71GP76TA's red 75 is a beautiful car. He sent me some hi def pics. If that car was on the east cost, id already made a deal at full asking price. Only thing missing for me is AC, but not a deal breaker. I'm still trying to see if logistically a deal might be made. 4800- 5600 to ship in enclosed trailer. That's using our PY member haulers. Ouch!

If I had 2 weeks to leisurely drive back 2800 miles maybe, but don't have that time off

Just to rent uhaul truck and trailer 4k. One way.

Haven't given up on the car.

If anyone is looking for a car like the one I'm looking for, I hope they're paying attention cause some nice cars are poking their heads out here in this thread and neither of the 2 are technically for sale and both are owned by Pontiac guys that are members on this board. Way way better then dealer cars at the same price. Since I can't afford it, I can pass ones contact info on to the owner of the Black 78 42k Mile TA if interested he's firm@ 52k, but car is a legit show car.

It's been 3 years, but I had my TA hauled enclosed from Maryland to Oregon for just a pinch over $2000. When I was shopping for shippers, the prices varied quite a bit.

same - when my T/A died outside of the Wisconson Dells I got her shipped the rest of the way via uSHip and it was cheaper than I anticipated.

If only I shipped her to begin with...doh

Good luck!

I was new to car shipping so I didn't have a clue how it worked. If you already know this I apologize, but I'll tell you what I found.

There are the bigger shippers that you can find via google. You can contract directly with them and they ship with their own equipment. Some have big fleets of trucks. These are usually big Semi rigs that carry many cars. I found those to be the most expensive and least flexible by far.

Then there are the brokers. These people don't ship anything. They find owner-operators that haul the cars. I don't have all the details, but it works something like this. They post the job on a board and the haulers can view that list and decide if they want to bid on it or take the job for the rate offered by the broker. The thing is that the brokers usually don't tell you that they are brokers. It's a little deceptive. If you ask them they will tell you but they try to avoid that fact because it must turn people off.

The guy that I bought the car from was a collector and he referred me to the broker that he uses. I was a bit nervous about it but it worked out very well. The job got picked up by a hauler with an enclosed two car trailer pulled by a F350. He picked it up on time and delivered it 2 days early in perfect condition so I was happy.

I'll PM you the broker info.

You could hire a driver to fly out and drive it back to NC .
Just make sure his name isn't Kowalski ... or Bandit

I thought about offering the seller a free vacation in NC if he wanted to deliver it. It's only 2800 miles. Lol

Thanks for the PM. I got a 1950.00 quote good ratings 1.2k reviews. They did ask about the weight of original parts coming with the car in the trunk. 100lbs free over that a little more.

Another Bird added to the GSO auction .
69 BirdVert 400 4spd with some options
Originally had the leather deluxe interior option but they skimped it down to gold deluxe.

I know the 69 TA's got the power steering cooler lines like are on this car.
But what parameter would put it on this 400 Bird - as factory issue ?
400 HO ?

Realizing too they might have just added it for a bling-zing item

I'm not crazy about that black pinstripe placement but man, that's an awful pretty gold bird.

There is an old school upholstery shop in Greensboro that could re-do that leather interior in the Bird.
They did an amazing job on a 69 GP leather interior for a friend of mine years ago.
He had to supply the hydes.

Its ultra rare on 68-69 Birds , but if its not there , it doesn't count.
And that's probably the best exterior color to have leather , especially a Vert that could showcase it with the top down.

Job 1 would be removing the pinstripes , I agree Greg.

It's the big day. The 75 buccaneer red TA 4 speed gets a pre purchase/appraisal today.

The seller "71GP76TA" has been very responsive during the process. I think dealing with me might not be so fun considering I ask a lot of questions. Some of which might not seem relevant, but he's hung in there with me even though his profit margin is far from huge on this one. Good to know there is still good honest people around.

This was a fun thread for me. All the input from the members here gave me the confidence to purchase a car across the country. Something I never thought I would do.

My 1969 400 4-speed coupe with the standard 330 hp 400 had the power steering cooling line and the car was an unmolested original, so it wouldn’t be hard to assume for me at least that all factory equipped 400 cars with p/s would have come with it.

Buying a California car or for that matter any car from the southwestern region of the US is a smart move in itself.

I’m sure you’ll end up with a nice and honestly represented car.
