blown 871 stock block choice
ive been trying to use up all my older parts before buying stuff for my ia2 block...my dilema has been 1 400 block was bad and other block may need bored bigger than the pistons i had for the cracked block.
new dilemna, i currently have 1 block at machine shop, with forged 4" stroke crank, bme rods, and icon .03 pistons. was told that one may need to be .040 because of rust. im picking up a standard bore block today so i could keep going and save the other block for another day. i also just got a 428 4 bolt main block and crank. looks like it machined .040 and crank turned, greased and stored....was hoping i coulda used my icons in but the .040 killed that what would be a better build for 871 428 "434" block with studded mains, bme rods, new ross pistons, n crank 406, n crank bme rods, ross pistons studded 2 bolt main 400 "434" block forged crank bme rods, icon pistons, may buy ross if you guys think theres a huge difference. also studded 2 bolt obviously theres a bennefit to the crank but honestly i dont think the crank will be the weak link in a stock block build and considered shelving it for the turbod ia2
