I used Guru Colors by Thornton Restorations on a 67. I thought it looked great and sprayed out very similar to the factory finish.

We bought the Dupli-Color spatter and it mostly just aqua glitter with very little black in it but some. We didn’t like it so left it as a primer base and used the AC stuff over it. Left it dry over night, then clear coated it. Still haven’t put anything back in the trunk yet letting it just get air.

We’re very happy with it, looks just like factory.

Sounds like you used a grey primer then?

Would you mind getting a close up picture under direct sunlight and posting it? Maybe lay a coin down for size reference?

Thanks!!

No we used the Dupli-Color that didn’t match well as the primer. When we sprayed it, it was more like a black base with aqua glitter in it. So we left it as the primer, and used the Delco paint over it, and it is perfect now. Sprayed very easy and consistent.

Black/Aqua the Grey/White is not correct for the 77.

Translation - what color was your trunk before you spray bombed it the first time with Duplicolor?

The original aqua/black was still in it, but starting to wear off and fade. We did not strip the old stuff off, just a light sanding and clean, then used the Dupli-color and left it as the primer and used the AC Delco stuff. BTW this is the same AC paint in my 69,s trunk.
