Under Dash A/C
68 GTO
Getting ready to pull the trigger for a Mark IV under dash A/C unit from Vintage Air. While I have the engine, dash and seats out, I thought it would be the best time to install the components. Anyone else running an under dash A/C? Any interference with the manual floor shift? Best routing of the refrigerant hoses? Photos of the hose routing and interior? Trying to maintain a period correct appearance so not interested in the integrated system.

I used classic auto air in my 69. I had the interior all out. It went in easy and works very well.

Where did you cut the firewall holes for the refrigerant lines?

I have the vintage air kit in my '65.
The lines are run where the stock evaporator would go...behind the passenger side fender. I am also using the OEM control panel conversion kit. Works like a champ.... Jeff |

In my kit the refrigerant lines go through the supplied firewall block off plate.
I thought that vintage air routed them through the kick panel opening. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

If you want to be period correct, get a large grommet and drill a 2 1/2” hole below the heater plenum. This is for the high and low side hoses and the compressor lead.
Then drill a 3/4” hole in the lower part of the firewall for the condensation drain hose. |

I ran the vintage air direct fit kit in my 68 . I had the shop that was doing the interior and such do it . Clean install , no interference with the under dash vents
