Well the Comp and Voodoo cams seem like good choices for the info you punched in.

Do you have a vacuum pump?
Those cams most likely will be low 10-12" vacuum tops.

I went to the new Hella 5.0, now I get 22" and it's 2x faster to reach this higher number than the old UP28.

I'd lower the intended RPM range and have it run the numbers again. With a 4.375" stroke crankshaft you are really getting up there in piston speed at 7000rpm's. Plus the relatively "heavy" weight of the Pontiac valve train would require a BUTT-LOAD of spring pressure to run those RPM's.

I have a couple of Pontiac engines out there turning those RPM's, but they are full RACE and use PAC springs that are so strong no "C" clamp type spring compressor I own will compress them. I have to bolt the heads to a work table and use a lever type compressor with a cheater bar on it!! Those engine runs reliably to 6400-6800rpm's shift points and have been in service for decades now with zero issues. The also use camshafts with over 270 degrees duration @ .050" so "rough" idle and timing is locked out to get that done.

Since you are in the "Street" section I'd set more realistic parameters and run the AI program again. Lower the RPM range to 5500-6000rpms which is more realistic for that much stroke in street build and see what it comes up with.......

Actually 5500 to 6000 is where the cams that the AI picked in the first post would top out in real life. If the desired RPM’s were down below 6K like Cliff mentioned the 068 might get recommended. Ya baby…Let’s go!

Like I said above this is a work in progress.

Yes at 6000 RPM I don't show that big a cam. But the AI said 85% VE. That does sound low even at peak HP so I also did it at 90% VE which probable still might be a little low.

The VE should be 100% to 105% for those cams the AI picked in a Pontiac. On the high side of that for the SR cams that had more lift.

I suppose that lower 85% could be for a general number for the top end of the power band.

I've actually been messing around with the various AI models quite a lot and from my experience I'd recommend you ditch chatgpt and ask GROK3. Elons AI is actually quite the gearhead and I've had some great bench racing conversations with it. It told me how and what specs to use to build a Helmholtz resonator to get rid of the drone on my GTO and It actually worked lol.

Been using GROK3 myself for general research of car stuff, engine parts, specs, and advertised results. It'll find posts at forums and vendor info. I find it much faster than doing a crappy goo-gal search that provides narrow pre-paid results with no deep search.

Note that having some foundational understanding of what you're researching is important. I will correct anything I know is wrong or incomplete and it usually responds in agreement and provides more information.

Don't cost nothin'.

Thanks for that Info. Sounds like something to play with and compare to real world results. Always willing to learn new things and use the "tools" available to do it.

Had a guy ask me a few years ago..want to try a new cam? This after my car was running as good as it ever ran. I said sure. His name is Dave Bisschop. I think that is the way in this hobby you have to trust people who know what works.

Tim Goolsby is a great resource and friend. His recommendations are always spot on. Plus AI could never match his Mississippi accent.
