Default Which Dash Bulbs?

I am finishing up the install of a new dash in my 66 GTO. Time to order new bulbs. Should I just stick with the original type or is there a new LED replacement that I should consider?

For me i thought the LEDs were harsh. After Pete Serio restored my gauges I can see them fine at night with original bulbs. Had to have LEDs to see stuff before Pete did his thing.

I switched to led and it was a significant improvement. The secret sauce I figured out was using regular bulbs for blinkers and high beams, but use led for all the dial illumination.

Could you expand further? LEDs too distracting as blinkers?

Yes they are too bright and if you have any imperfections in the plastic colored lens it shows up right away. They do a helluva of a job on gauge illumination though

for just your dash lighting question... I used these, and have been quite happy with them:

I got the cool white 6000K version.

The marker/taillight issue is a whole different ball of wax, due to flasher issues.

I used these and I like them. https://www.amazon.com/Marsauto-194-T10-168-Replacement

I didn't use them for the blinker indicator because I don't think they will work with regular blinker relays, you need the ones designed for LEDs. I will eventually be putting LED's for head/tail/blinkers so I will have to upgrade to those then I will swap out the blinker indicators with the leds.

My dimmer worked with the bulbs I posted, above. Although I tend to run them all the way bright.
