Default 66 GTO Conv & 67 GTX

Heres a couple to cry over. The 66 is owned by a dentist, It sets at his parents rotting away... He will get to it some day.
The other is really a neat find, an Original paint rust free 67-69 GTX 440 auto matching Num car. He bought it 20 years ago for 800 bucks. It has set in the shed since. He would probably sell but it won't be a bargin. He is savy on what its worth.

Sweet car Greg - if you're going to keep one, that would be the one!

There's a 1972 Chevelle SS here in town that I've been trying to buy for ten years. The guy is a guy I knew in high school and he bought the car new. He never modified it at all! It still has the original engine, carb and intake, manifolds, even the five-spoke rally wheels. It was re-upholstered some time ago, but that's it! Well, he moved about 500 miles away 15 years ago and left the car at his mothers house under a carport. Well, his mom sold the house and moved in with her other son and the car now sits in the dirt under a tarp. I caught him in town five years ago and he agreed to sell it to me for $2500.00! I showed up the next day with the cash and he hemmed and hawed around and kicked the tires (flat and sunk into the dirt) and said he changed his mind and he was going to trailer it back home. That was five years ago and it still sits in the same spot! His brother says he still won't sell it. Too bad...it's REALLY starting to look sad.

Default 68 Shelby GT500KR info

gregsgtos; I will call you when I get some updated info on our contact's position.

here is the message you could not open. [minus some sensitive information for public posting] If anyone else wants to chime in with thoughts please feel free. I'll be trying to work with greg first if there is going to be any outside financing coming into this deal. Need to get ahold of the contact guy and see what can be done to get this deal off the ground. This whole deal is nuts to me but I'm sure some of you have dealt with worse over the years.

Greg,

It appears financing is the guy's biggest problem.

Bottom line is the guy wants to stay in the deal because he was the one who sold the car to the current owner back in 1971 and they are friends. He has first dibs on the car if it goes for sale again. Current owner is in poor health 71 yrs old. This has been talked about for over a year. My partner and I have moved on to other cars so our money is now tied up but we could probably get together our half. Price of the Shelby is under market value I think. We were going 50/50 but our friend does not seem to have anywhere close to his shareneeded and he needs to be in the deal to get the car out of the barn etc. Maybe he can be bought out on the front end? I think he might do it for a finders fee. Not sure how much that would be or what is the norm for a deal this size. I assume you have the finances based on your ebay record alone. Might be what we need to get a deal done. Would like to put on ebay right after Barrett-Jackson to max profit.

What do you think the car is worth? Everyone involved on our end just wants to flip it and if your interested I can ask what it would take to get the deal rolling. Car is located close to me so pickup is no problem. Our guy did say we could hold the car and paperwork until the resale. He is too busy to deal with it he just wants to make a quick buck (like we all do) We will have to do the work of cleaning it up etc.

Give me your thoughts.
Thanks, John

Default 1969 Camaro SS427

Here is another car I have a solid lead on but the owner is unwilling to part with it just yet. I took the pictures myself sorry I only have the 3 pics.

1969 Camaro RS/SS427 Forest Green/Black interior. Automatic car. Owner thinks it might be an original Motion Camaro but has not validated that yet.

Do the emblems etc look original to you guys? What is a fair price for the car if a real Motion Camaro? No engine/trans.

Default SS Camaro

The backup lights in the rear bottom tail panel confirm its an SS. Not sure about the 427. Look at the cowl ID plate on the firewall. Keith

i would think that the shelby would pull the most return with a full restoration.we can usually turn a car around in 3 to 4 months.this would be the perfect time to get and restore car and sell it at the spring mecum auction.the guys would be fighting for this car.get ahold of me john.

It'd be mighty hard to tell if its a real Motion. Heres an excerpt from an article in HMM about a Motion Corvette, from Marty Shorr, who worked on the Motion cars.

"You have to understand, we were selling new cars that we had modified, plus modifying cars cutomers brought to us, as well as selling the custom body parts themselves. You could even purchese Motion emblems back then--we figuered getting the name out there would only help our image. But today, all that stuff is surfacing, and everyone that finds some wants to sell it as if it came from Baldwin-Motion, but most of it didn't."

So the only way to tell would be to contact someone who knows their Motion stuff. And no engine/trans doesn't help.

A guy up the road from me here in Clackamas, Oregon had a 69 Firebird sitting beside his home when I moved to the area in 1983. Over the years, I tried hard to get him to sell it but he always said it was his dream car and would restore it. I mentioned the first time he said this, he needed to cover the car if nothing eles. OK, I never stopped trying to buy it although about eight years ago it was only worth some parts. Two years ago while on my way up his road to get to town. I saw him and a friend cuting it in pieces and a truck was being loaded to haule the scrap off. His selling price? It cost him to heva it removed. Fools should get spanked realy well by the Big guy. Yet many piss and moan because they can't afford to pay taxes. Or, complain when gas goes over a buck fifty a gallon. Heheheehe Mike

FYI, about two miles from here same thing is happening to a 67 Chevy F body. Black car and so far it's all I can tell as the black berries have covered it. Not even to mention the real col older trucks, and tractors. I never even knew tractors use to come with steam engines and steel wheels with spikes for traction. UNtil I see a grave yard with a bunch of them. A realy old man close to me has an Old cat. He starts it buy pulling a small gas engine. Which in turn starts the Cat engine. Again, neat thing I never knew. Engine to start another engine. BYe, byebyebyebyeybe......... Mike

the car under the blackberry bush will be junk. the leaves secrete an acid that will eat that car's sheetmetal in no time. don't ask how i learned this.

re the tractors, if you're interested in that stuff and want to see a decent display of restored and non restored different models you should schedule some vacation time and come to the local gas engine and tractor show.

i think they have a web site, do a search for tri-state gas engine and tractor club, portland indiana. we host the largest gas engine and tractor show in the world in sept of each year. there's a LOT of cool stuff that shows up.

the dozer you talked about is fitted with a pony motor starting system. cat used that for years.

Thanks for the information on the tractors. I would enjoy watching those old tractors running. Good day friend.

A few miles from me a guy has some old cars in his yard, one of them is a 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler.
I went up to the yard and checked it out.....429 SCJ, a 'real' Drag Pack car with the engine oil cooler, ram air setup, Top Loader 4 speed, 9" inch rear with factory 4.30 gearing, front and rear spoilers, competition yellow with black stripes and accents, etc.
A very rare and desirable car to say the least.
I asked him if its for sell, he says no, but he says he'd really like to have a Chevelle SS 396 . We got to talking about musclecars and racing stuff, and he says his first real hot rod was a 1966 Chevelle SS 396 with 4 speed, and he told me about all the good times he had with the car, I offered to trade him a nice drivable 1966 Chevelle SS 396 straight across for the Merc (that needs a complete resto), then suddenly he declines the offer because he knows that the Merc is worth twice of what the Chevelle is And there it sits........just think, that guy could have been enjoying a Chevelle all this time!!

the back-up lights indicate RS option, which included concealed headlamps and special tail lamps along with a deluxe interior. The RS was superceded when ordered in conjunction with SS package, which was trim and suspension upgrade. Motion used optioned-out cars for their offerings and this one surely fits the bill. Ron

Talking

If you really want to know if it is a Motion car this is the man you need to talk to ,

joel@motionmodels.com

I will cost about 1000-1500 dollars to find out but he and his wife are the only ones who know if the car you are looking at is real. I know its a lot of money just to find out and you should do your research before getting to that point but he will provide you with documentation once he verifies its authenticity.

Hope this helps.
