Mark
I can certainly understand the broker angle; I have to admit I did not take that into consideration. |

I think it is very cool how this car has 2 PHS forms. The one from factory, and the one from dealer. I wonder if they know who the Pontiac executive was who order this car?
Anyone else get two PHS forms with their cars that were Pontiac executive company cars? |

Can anybody comment on the stamped steel A/C bracket? My car 70 has one and I always assumed it was incorrect because every 1970 GTO I see with A/C has the Aluminum bracket. Mine doesn't appear to have a part number stamped on it so I never could determine if it was wrong but now seeing this, maybe it is correct. Maybe a midyear change???

Hmmm....
Would the exec be the guy listed on the protecto plate? I did an anywho search and there is a guy in the same area with the same name.

I don't believe the guy listed on the protecto plate was an exec.

I'm guessing here. The timeline I see is Poncho exec gets car 6-05-70, and gives up 9-29-70 to a dealer in Monroeville, PA and is sold to original owner 5 months later as an executive driven car with 5% off.
Hence the POP date is the 6-05-70 date for warranty, and sales invoice Feb 15, 71. Does the Poncho guys drive car for free? Is there a time limit? This is a late build car? Hence the red centers and probably JT wheels? |

Why would someone sell this at B/J over ebay? I'd say he's better off selling on ebay. He is advertising for very little coin....globally. At B/J, he'd be paying a what?...8% commission fee? Money out the door! Especially at this price. Ebay fee will be in the 100 to 200 dollar range, depending on what he chose in his ad. I say he's better off selling on ebay. Cheaper, golbal advertising AND he can sell at anytime to anyone. Just my .02

Ok guys, telling me what I'm missing here. The ad says that this is one of 3 and that no 4 speed 455 HO convertibles were made in 1970. It goes on to say that there is no way to tell a 455 HO from a RA III by the PHS. Check out the PHS doc on this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-...QQcmdZViewItem This one shows a 455 HO 4 speed convertible, and it SHOWS the 455 HO on the PHS!

I just realized it is not a JUDGE! Never mind. But it is a rare car! Be a good one to rebody! LOL.
By the way, I wouldn't bet on Milt being the buying Gary's car. He likes to steal them! Just kidding.

the one you are showing is not a judge. I believe it has something to do with the judge option, all judges were ram 3`s or iv`s except this one, so it is out of the ordinary to have a 455 with ram air in a judge package

The car was sold sold out of Cochran Pontiac. They are one the biggest dealerships in Pa.

Jerry H : the Car is definitely a Judge. GTO's will show the 455 HO, but the 455 HO was a no-cost substitute for the Ram III (standard Judge engine) on a 70 Judge. 455 HO was an extra cost option on a standard GTO non-Judge. They made 17 455 HO Judges in 70, 14 hardtops and 3 convertibles. ALL the 455 HO Judges in 70 were automatics. The GTO you are referencing with 4spd is not a Judge.
We had a large thread about these Cars a while back. I own a 70 GTO 455 HO with Ram Air, and a few others here do as well. A lot of PHS's and a few build sheets are posted in that thread. This is the first 70 455 HO Judge we have had a chance to examine. Thank goodness it is such a prime example/survivor to set the standard and has so many documents. We stand to learn a lot from this Car. I will post more on it later. |

The 455 code should appear on the Protecto Plate correct? I remember my '66 had the WT code stamped in it along with the engine sequence number.

The build sheet has YC, which I believe is a 71 motor:

Those plastic POP's really suck . The old metal ones told lots of good things on the older Cars.
Steve: YA and YC is listed for 70 455 HO GTO automatic applications. Full size used XF. All of our 455 GTO non-Judges have had the YA code 455 engine for automatics. The YA 455 with Ram Air used an 0270 WA carb. Noted that the carb plant code is also different (not WA) on the Judge's buildsheet - and it's not a California Car. Also noted that Ram Air Induction was standard issue as we had presumed/guessed/hoped on 70 455 Judge. I'm going to try and visit this Car personally - not to scrutinize it but to obtain documentary informations from this only known virgin and maybe buy it - taking 2 women to offer in trade. There are a number of things we have never known about these elusive mysterious machines (70 455 Judge). Wish I had one, hardtop would be fine enough. These are from a 70 GTO 455 HO Ram Air non-Judge: Last edited by Baron Von Zeppelin; 02-07-2006 at 11:20 AM. |

Baron, you misunderstood my post. I meant that the car that I posted about was not a Judge, not Cave's car. The car that I posted about is a 455 HO 70 Convert also on Ebay right now. Go back and check the link I posted.

I don't think Gary is the type of guy to go through trouble of a BJ auction.

I'm surprised he put his telephone number in the ebay ad. Anybody wanna guess how many calls he received?
