Default 69 Parking Light Lenses

Did any of the 68 built cars have lenses embossed with 68, instead of 69, or are they all 69 to correspond to the model year. I've only seen these lenses with 69 or 70 on them.

The year printed on lens' usually refers to the model year they first were used. This is a general rule and the 70 GTO and 70 Firebird seem to be an exception to this rule as the parking lamp lens' were marked 70 even though they seem identical to and share part numbers with their respective 69 counterparts.

The year followed by SAE was the model year the lens was approved by SAE. If the lens did not change in design or color then the first year of the design would be the one imprinted on the lens such as the 64-66 Mustang tail light lens.

IRT the 70 lens there must have been a very slight difference in the design that would have required SAE approval.

A little lens trivia about Corvettes.
61-67 Corvette taillight lens was approved in 58, since the lens was first used in the 58 Bel Air. The parking light lenses have a 60 date. Design first used with the 60 Pontiac

I seen that the license plate light lenses used in 69 and 70 have 65 molded on them.
