Question 2007 Ford Freestyle Opinions

Test drove one yesterday and it REALLY seems nice! 23K, FWD, CVT(really like it!). Does anyone who actually OWNS one or possibly have inside info(Mr. Vaught) have opinions they would like to share? This looks like the perfect vehicle for my wife.

Thanks,
PHILLYGOAT

i own an 04 windstar.
it's the most boring vehicle ever made, probably, but gets you from a to b reliably and can carry enormous buttloads of junk with the seats removed.
it's been mostly trouble free over 45k miles...it's as much fun to drive as a blender, though, and the seats become uncomfortable after a couple hours.

We own a 2007 Freestyle.

Love the car. Nice interior. We have all options except heated seats. Just 12K miles on it, so not sure about how it will hold up. We bought the extended warranty, as it has paid off on past cars we have owned.

In '08, it became the Taurus X, but looks the same.

We are very happy. The CVT is a trip. You keep waiting for it to shift, but it just ramps up and keeps pulling. Power is decent for a larger car. The fold down seats are great for changing demands inside. We have got as good as 25mpg on a long trip. Stays around 16 in daily driving. I expected better, but it works for us. The power moon roof is cool. Controls in the steering are handy. 6 cd changer in the dash is convenient. I wish we had satellite radio, but may add it later.

Any questions, just ask.

Jeff

We have the Winstar and it's a POS. Lost the tranny at 32K - as well as the tranny's in other Fords I have/had. I don't trust the tranny's. Engine is good though and paint is good. Interior parts fall off as well as exterior moldings.

The best vans appear to be the Honda and Toyota. Everyone loves them, but they are more expensive....

You guys are comparing apples to oranges between the Freestlye and Windstar, the Freestar was the short term updated Windstar.

The rear brakes are covered up to 3yrs/36k miles from an owner notification for wear under 3mm. AWD ones are covered f&r . Keep rotating the tires every 5k miles along with the oil change. We havn't had too many problems other than that( i'm a Ford dealer tech). No big problems with the cvt trans just seals leaking here and there.

Thanks guys. I am hoping we can swing the deal as the vehicle is spotless, the nicest overall of the ones I have looked at. It is the SEL with just standard equipment(seems to come with a lot of stuff!) and less than 23K. Clean CARFAX. They are asking $15,500.

That is a good deal!

We paid over $29k for ours brand new.

I like the car, and I'm not much into family-mobiles. LOL!

WOOHOOO!!! The deal went thru today. Actually paid $15,000 and it has the optional rear AC and split folding third row seats. Now I am checking out getting the FORD Extended Warranty. Online I found one Ford dealer selling the Premium package for 100K/7yrs for $1665!!!

P.S. Got 5.24% on a 60month loan!!!

I don't own one but a friend of mine does have it for almost two years and is better than Taurus. The gas mileage is better than to those big truck based SUVs.

Thumbs up UPDATE on FREESTYLE

This is a great vehicle so far. Around town mileage has been a low of 18.5, a high of 22 and the average is usually 19.5 to 20mpg. We took one trip averaging 65mph and got 31 mpg !!!! Not bad for a 4000lb, comfortable, seven seat vehicle.
