Electric water pump and belt routing
I'm wanting to go with an electric water pump. My 69 Firebird has a VintageAir compressor on the passenger side, and the P/S pump and alternator on the driver's.
https://butlerperformance.com/i-2445...tegory:1234740 The belt for the A/C compressor looks like it will clear just fine, same for the P/S (just with a shorter belt of course). But the alternator appears to be the problem. Looking at it I'm fairly certain the alternator belt when routed to go only around the crank pulley, will route through right where the electric motor snout for the electric water pump will be. Facing the front of the engine, I think the belt will rub the lower right corner of the motor housing. Has anyone come up with a solution for this configuration? Thanks!

My main reason is so I can run it after shutoff in conjunction with my electric fans to cool things down for at least a minute. Looks like I'm going to wait until I go with a serpentine belt setup.

i've been running the e-water pump for 8+ years now, its been a great
i do have the March serpentine belt setup which makes the process much easier, just needed a shorter belt i only have Alt/PS though |

Using it as a booster pump, retaining the mechanical. Since the stock pump is a turbine design, the booster can "blow through" at low rpm. I used a DC Control controller on one car with electric pump and fan - I could turn them on manually, or the controller would keep them running after shutdown until the temp dropped to about 175 or so.
