Sealing valve covers
Just a tip, on the oem W72 chrome valve covers, the bolt holes deform from over tightening. So when I was replacing the gaskets, decided to flatten them out using 2 hold down tabs & a dead blow hammer on the edge of the workbench. Here’s before & after pics:

It can happen to pretty much any stamped steel valve covers, if previous owners were ham handed. In extreme cases the valve cover can actually crack around the bolt pad. I have a pair of them out in the garage like that.

And of course, the typical response to a small gasket weep is to give them bolts another tweak tighter, and so it goes.

I just flattened mine by pressing them in a table vice with rags on each side to prevent marring. Then I installed load spreaders. Not a drop since.
