Dash installed finally, new heater control cables (EZ Slider ) then I placed the pass side kick panel in place bit of a beotch to install....that wa the side I had to fix the cable for the upper dash vent as it blew into a few pieces….I used a piece of vacuum line sliced one side of it slipped it over the cable and then tie strapped it to close up the slit works perfect….thought I had a pic but I don’t…
Next I'm gonna pull the carpet out that's been laying in there then lay down the low profile x mat

The headliner will test your patience. I custom ordered a '74 with NO rear shoulder harness cut outs. Still needs a lot of messing with.

the perforated vinyl ABS backed 1 piece headliner with no seatbelt cutouts is not a custom order, PUI has a part# you can use to order through summit, i bought one for my 72 since i like that style more than the original fabric style in earlier cars, have yet to install it though since it needs some custom trimming of the front/rear metal trim and adapting the plastic side trims to a car that used the metal type. I have the part # if you decide to go that route.

but if youre cardboard backer is in good shape its better to use that, it will fit much better and you just need to buy the roll of perf vinyl to glue to the cardboard.

the previous owner opted for the perforated - it looks good however what goes up must come down....she's starting to sag

Looking forward to you continuous build thread...

You are right, the first one I orders years ago was a custom order from PUI, and I think I may have been the first.
Ames sells the material to repair these and I like the 3m brand extra hold spray glue.

i saw the ABS no seatbelt headliner mentioned on here years ago so it may have been from you. mine is still unopened sitting in my basement, was focused on getting the engine built & installed as well as car painted before final interior things, hope to get to it this season.

i used the original cardboard backer in my 81 & glued new padded back perf vinyl to it, turned out excellent. i used the 3m spray glue too, has held up for 12 years now with no signs of sagging.

Here is what my headliner looks like on the right and this is what I’ve found similar but from what I’ve seen it’s 74 and up…
Either of u gentleman have a pic of the adhesive or more specifics of the adhesive I know there are a few out there…

From the reserch I did on the glue to attach the headliner , it seems most preferred Weldwood Landau top & Trim Adhesive. It's for high temp, so should withstand the summer heat with out releasing. Bought the headliner material from Ames. Looks to be good quality.

Well doing some more stuff to the car slowly but surely ...I've come up with planter fasciitis dam is that painful...hobbling round at work then coming home to work on the car is not in my best interest but I got out to the car ..primed the engine installed valve covers with fresh gaskets, put fresh gas in, dropped the dist in, filled the cooling system added some trans fluid fired right up....good feeling after more than 2 years

Yeeee Haaaa!!!
Glad to hear the Great Pumpkin is getting closer!!!

I got a steroid shot in one of my heals, THAT made me cry!!! It did help a lot, though...

I worked on my feet, way too much back then, thankfully don't now.

Looking forward to pictures, as always!!!

Cool that you saved the sticker....I'm still using my somewhat less than great rearview mirror on my restored 67 GTO (Fremont car)because it has a sticker on the back from some college in Ca..... Some lucky kid was driving a 67 GTO in college.
