Default Welting for 1979 10th year Anniversary T/A available soon

It looks like I have finally been successful matching Platinum (1979 tenth year anniversary edition). 3 times is a charm. The photos below show the best I can get. Please feel free to comment. I should have a sample of the colored welting for approval in about 3 to 4 weeks, and production in 6 more.

Solar Gold is the color I think. I have a list of people that are interested in various colors to be reproduced. Once I get 35 commitments for a color, I will run them. Solar gold currently has I think 7 people interested. Go to the 70 to 73 firebird forum and look at the thread “Welting…my latest curiosity”. It details all that I have done so far and that is where the list is kept as well as on Facebook in the East Coast Trans Ams group.

For the 4 that I currently have in stock, they cost $90.00 + 8.40 shipping and handling. I am still waiting for an updated quotation for the new platinum to be able to determine the final pricing.

Thanks, James

Well, after what seemed like eternity, here are some photos of the sample for approval for Platinum. I think the color is right-on the original paint on my sample fender flair. The shape and dimensions are right on to my tool that I made. The high solids of the metallic colors will make them less glossy than the whites, reds, or blacks, but the original has areas that look like my sample and areas that look like they either have a lot of wax or clear coat possibly on it. Lucerne Blue had a reduced gloss as well.

I am interested in your comments. As you can see, the extruder sent me enough of a sample to make 2 kits. I was thinking of putting them on Ebay. The production run will take another 4 to 6 weeks, once I give the extruder the go-ahead. I am sorry it has taken so long. Nothing happens quickly anymore, unfortunately. I appreciate everyone's patience.

James

Super Good

When I was buying it from one of the vendors back in early 90's - silver was the only color they sold.

For those wondering, Platinum is the same silver used on non-TATA vehicles also, although this really only affects the silver TA models. Nice work again.
