May be a 16. Probably late 67 casting.
What's the Date code?

I have seen some early 68 heads cast on one side of center ports like this. I may have some 15 heads like this.

I can’t quite make out what part of the head I am looking at there.
Is that the top of the center exh ports?
In terms of D port heads there where two different year 16 castings.

One used in 1968 and will have screw in rocker studs and one used in 1970 that will not have screw in rocker studs.

The casting date is below the exh side valve cover lip above the spark plugs.

The 1970 heads will have chambers that will be about 6 CCs larger then the 68 heads. And will have 1.96” intakes and 1.66” exh valves.

X2 on the early 68' heads having the whole casting numbers on just one side of the center exhaust port "V". I've seen it a few times over the years.

Is there the other head that might have a clearer casting number?

There is a thread here on PY about I think 62 head codes that are cast upside down?
If the date codes are appropriate for 68 heads, it is probably a 16 head.

Here is a example of early 68 head casting number.

This is a 68 #15 head.

These early heads from the outside look like earlier cast heads with blank smog rail. The date code is right below valve cover lip.

These earlier cast heads are harder to find if you happen to have a cracked head. The outside casting difference stands out compared to later 68 castings.

Post date code from the 16 head you have.

I have a pair of those upside down 62’s. Problem is some previous owner took a grinder to the chambers and ports and now they’re mostly a decorative conversation piece.

Vid, can you post up some pictures of those heads?
They may not be a lost cause .
