Question 67 400 Front Bumper

My original front bumper is dented and the chrome is very worn. To get it repaired and rechromed is close to $600.00. A new repo is about $250. However, you all know that the repos don't have the two holes for the arrowhead mounting and all I've heard is that just drill the holes. But, I have drilled bumpers before and the chrome just peels away around the holes no matter what I did. Has anyone had success in drilling the holes with no peeling of the chrome and if so, what method did you use to prevent the peeling?

I've used the stepped drill bits with good results.
