Hopefully by now their aluminum welding skills have improved. The "good" welds looked like pigeon poop after hitting a sidewalk. The bad welds were nothing more than tacked slag with wide gaps between them, especially along the floor of the runners.

I think now if they need something Aluminum welded they go to Travis Q. Travis has some nice aluminum welding skills. Prior to that they probably farmed the work out as I have never seen a TIG machine at their business as long as I have been visiting there.

With them doing more aluminum heads, Travis could fill in on any minor welding/ repair issues easily.

When Lee S wanted his RA-V Tunnel Ram converted to EFI, Travis designed and built the plenum as well as installed the EFI bungs in the intake for Rodney & David Butler who did the short block for Lee.

Just reporting on what I found. Regardless of who performed the work, I'm surprised it was found to be "acceptable"...particularly when it was going on a car with 7 second potential performance.

Until I can TIG better than the guy doing it, I am keeping my mouth shut. I can stick weld like a mofo though! (:>)

You noticed wrong, Cletus. I've never had any dealings with the Butlers.

And I'm not the one who commented on the quality of the welds, Cletus. I believe that was Brian Baker.

Picture doesn't show down into the ports where the divider that was added was poorly welded...on all ports. I didn't buy this manifold from Butler either.
