Default 66 Two Tone

Bought a 1966 GTO hardtop in June. While looking at it I saw plug wires with Packard 1 Q 66, so I thought well maybe original. Pulled the trigger since the intake was B16 6 and cowl tag said 03A. Had black paint on top and confirmed as tag said L A for paint. Got it home, lock cast B266, heads B176, trans 66 NA 132N, rear end cast B266, code WF. Every piece original. Couple of weeks later called some number s off Interwebs search on pre ious owner on title. Fellow answers, yes it was my Grandads car, he bought it new. That is my mom on the title. Grandad was an oil executive and always a little wild, hit a pole in “75 and car was parked at his moms house in Alabama, not driven since. Frame will pull and has at outside but such an original car pretty pumped. When looking the firewall was ‘scratched’ I thought because the hood was loose. That was wrong, the firewall says L-A 2. Two tone paint assembly line marking. How cool. Anyway, documented the trans date off of the forums and is correct, big script Pontiac assembly YS. Never been able to trace good history on a car!

Neat ‘66 in two-tone colors I’ve never seen.

Lower body - L Marina Turquoise
Upper body - A Black
Should have a single white pinstripe.

If this car was built with Standard hub caps than the wheel’s were painted Marina Turquoise also.

Are you getting the PHS?

BTW - Auto trans code is 132 day of ‘66 build.

That looks like a solid project. Congratulations!
The guy that painted my car had a two tone '66 in his shop at the time. It was also Marina Turquoise but had a white top. I think the interior was aqua/turquoise. The only two tone '66 I've seen personally.

Red aluminum Distributor tag: #1111078 Delco Remy 6 B 21

I know it is not RAII, but so cool to see the untouched stuff. I saw a $60,000 'GTO' on the Ebay last week with nice 'round aluminum rivets' on the VIN tag. I'll take my factory installed Rosette rivets any day of the week.

Ive had 2 that were 2 toned
a 65 red lower white upper red interior
a 66 Burgundy lower white upper red interior
I thought the 66 red interior clashed with the Burgundy
the 65 was better.
Maybe switch to a black vinyl roof since you have the trim?

I will leave it like it is. It will be true to the car and is just different looking.

Can't do the hubcaps though LOL

I'd say the dealer was in Louisiana. Possibly name starts with a 'P'

I don't have anything on it though.

Paretti in New Orleans? They were a large Pontiac dealership.

Cammer, have any pics of that 2 tone 66? It's exactly how I've considered doing mine.

sorry no pics, unless they are in an old film camera.
Please dont do that color combo unless you go with parchment or black interior. the Red interior clashes with the burgundy
