Default Well it has been 13 days since...............

Anyone decide to post in the PONTIAC Boost Section of the Forum lately?

Apparently no one is talking about or building a boosted Pontiac engine any more.
Or any Boosted Engine. Interesting. Theories why.

No need for specific member comments.

I’m building one. Just going very slow at it. I have my heads, valvetrain, carb, supercharger etc bought and Kauffman has my new forged crank and my aluminum rods arrived today so next few weeks I’ll be ordering pistons and having them balance the assembly.

My car is no where near rolling so I’m taking my time!

Once I get what intake elbow and throttle body I’ll be using for the Terminator X efi squared away, I’ll probably start gathering parts for the twin turbo conversion (I’m leaning toward the Steve Morris billet piece because it is low profile and I have limited hood clearance). Once I get everything figured out (turbos, cam, wastegates, intercooler, etc) I’ll pull the trigger on purchasing everything

I’m also going to need to lower the compression substantially and I’m debating if I open up the head chambers (KRE said they could open them to 80cc’s from the current 61cc’s) or if I change pistons. I don’t trust any engine builders nearby so it’s a bit stressful.

…Lots of moving pieces but I’m making progress

I have been out driving mine thankfully not working on it. In the last 5 years the only thing I have changed was the addition of a s488. it was a direct bolt in swap from the 475 and has been trouble free pushing 15 psi of boost.

Been there Charlie on the "Funds" issue to continue with a project.

Hang in there and congrats on moving along, with what you have done so far, with your Twin Turbo Build.

I am starting to compile some information on possibly doing a boosted poncho. I don't typically post until I really have a solid plan or need assistance though. Since it's more pie in the sky right now, more than anything.

What I'm after is making a "quiet and comfortable" 600-650 to the tire, so closer to 800 on motor.

I'm thinking a 10:1 460+ inch motor with a D1SC, throttle body injection on E85 and a max 5700rpm rev limit. I'm tentatively looking at the D1SC for three main reasons.

1. It will support the power goal
2. Its internal step up gearing is steeper than its P1SC cousin which should help produce the power without the need for lots of revs
3. Self contained system

DO NOT AGREE ON #2

https://www.procharger.com/wp/conten...ce_Combo-1.pdf

The P1SC, P1SC-1, P1X, P1SC-2, D1SC and D1-X all have a 4.10 step up ratio. The D-1 is the only Procharger in that series that has the higher 4.44 step-up ratio. You might want to look at your info again.

All of the P1SC series superchargers are SUPPOSED to make at least 800 HP.

3. Self contained system
AGREE on the rest of the info posted. The D1SC will make about 100 more hp or about 70 HP more after the HP losses.

Huh, you're correct. I've been going off of information for a while that was either inaccurate, or I suppose also possible that procharger updated the step up drive on the P1. That gives me more options to look at. I'd like to keep the boost around 7psi.

The TBI and E85 combo would double as the system intercooler.

I looked at two different time lines for those superchargers and unless it is a website mistake in both cases, that is the way it has been for several years.

Plus changing gear sets on high production offerings is not something people do every year. Those Gear Ratios/Gear Sets have been out there for a LONG TIME.

Tom V.

Are you going to buy a whole kit of Procharger S/C (Pontiac Parts) NEW or buy used from someone??

I prefer new parts, my luck with used has always been very suspect. I only know of a couple "kits" out there. Luhn, Pontiac Dude and Supercharger Online.

I'd prefer the Luhn or Pontiac Dude kit as they are passenger side mount (I don't run AC). The SConline bracket system is driver's mount.

I have considered the torqstorm system, but it's out of steam at around 500-520rwhp.

John Clegg was one of the first to get a Luhn Passenger Side Vortech Supercharger.

He beats the crap out of that poor 1964 Pontiac. Over 180 mph in the Texas Mile and driven on the street.

John Clegg wrapping up the Rat Goat blower project just in time for the Texas Mile.
This is a 1964 Pontiac Lemans Car made about 1000 hp in the old days.

I'm finally putting my 505" together. Dropped the rotator back off at BES today for rebalancing because I bought heavier pins. Should be assembling it in a week hopefully.
