Default Where to buy procharger

I’m thinking about a supercharger where is the best place to purchase it? The most complete kit to put on a traditional Pontiac 455. Thanks.

Probably Luhn Performance. They can supply their bracket as well as the head unit.

Procharger kit

Vortech kit

Don’t overlook the Vortech YSI. It’s a great blower. A friend ran one on his Buick 455 for years trouble free.

A T-Trim Vortech Supercharger made 862 Dyno HP on Steve Morris Dyno. 13 psi boost

A YSi will make more HP possibly as much as 1000 real hp on a dyno.

Brian Hedrick ran a Procharger on his Firebird for years, Actually several Procharger units.
Without a really good intercooler on the front of the car, they make a lot of heat.
Not needed with other methods of cooling the charge, for a drag only deal.
(Water to Air intercooler mounted in the passenger seat location.)

How much power do you want to make?

In order to get optimum numbers you WILL need either open headers or a free flowing exhaust among other things, So your numbers WILL very up or down…….just saying!

I remember a long time ago when i was running 8.90's on racing gas i switched to 2 1/4" headers from 2" and picked up a little bit over 2 tenths no other changes!

Since header tubes measurement is based on tube outside diameter, and even the thinest / lightest header wall thickness would probably be .060", a 2.0" header tube is actually 1-7/8" internal diameter. A 2.25" header tube is 2-1/8" internal diameter.

So you made a big change in the flow capability of your exhaust Zoomies.

On my engine 13 lbs of boost is making around if not more than 1,400 HP.........better flowing heads, bigger camshaft.....etc! It all depends on the engine combo1

Millwrights, Racers & mechanics fix things that engineers mess up!

GTO George
Really!

It is area of inside diameter the pipe that counts..

Going from 1 7/8" to 2 1/8" is 128.44% increase

Going form 2" to 2 1/4" is 126.56% increase. Close but no cigar.

Do you have a dyno sheet or time slip that shows that?

You have to assume that the Drive losses would be high to drive that BDS unit.

The drive losses on a centrifugal (Procharger) supercharger are lower for sure.
The Original Thread Post #1 was discussing a Procharger Supercharger.

About 5 degrees at .050 smaller than the camshaft Jimmy Keen ran in his 347 cid engine when he was the
1998 National Super Street Champion. He ran his engine to 9,000 rpm every pass with the two speed glide trans.
(He went thru a lot of Power Glide Trans. Sometime 3 in a week-end of racing).

He had about a .786 lift at the valve.

Agree, your cam is not the perfect camshaft but will work until you could find the right one. Jimmy's Cams were ground by Harold B.

He was racing against the best at the time, Billy Glidden, in Super Street for a National Championship 1998.

You are Bracket Racing. But if the camshaft does the job go for it. Don did you a favor. And it should be close enough for a bracket engine.

By the way, Jimmy could run 7.50s with his 347 cid Mustang. Just like Brian Hedrick did with his
Procharger car. And the thread IS about a guy wanting to buy a Procharger for his PONTIAC engine.

Talk to Brian Hedrick grandam1979. If you pm me I will get his cell number off my phone to you.

I’m thinking Brian only ran mid 8’s at 13 lbs of boost!
