Default spark plugs for KRE 85 cc d-ports

For you guys running the KRE 85 cc heads, what plugs are you using?

Thanks Gary, I thought that was the plug that Jeff Kaufmann had recommended but I wanted to make sure.

The proper plug choice hinges on how much HP / heat the engine will make , not on chamber size or even compression.

Gary’s motor and his recommendation for a plug may well be too cold for your motor as he is likely making a bunch more HP then you are!

Plugs have a 600 degree operating range .

If you had the ideal heat range in regards to your motors HP capability’s then your combustion temps could be 300 degrees hotter or colder and your plugs will still work fine, as in not over heating , nor fouling out on you.

Note that a 300 degree combustion temperature change will take place starting with about a 150 overall HP difference between two motors in question.

One size does not fit all, and that’s why there are so many different nose plugs and heat ranges.

Just to be clear, when I said I use FR-5's on KRE D port heads, I was referring to street or street/strip engines I build for customers. I use NGK 5671-7 plugs in my race car which has Edelbrock wide port heads on it. The FR-5 plug is generally a good street plug for the KRE D ports.

That is why I said Jeff had recommended this particular plug because he knew the particulars of my engine build. I know that one size doesn't fit all.

On my 85cc KRE D's , I also use 5671-7 at the strip and put in FR-5's if I am gong to spend any significant time on the street .

When I originally added the KRE 85 from SD Performance I used Autolite 3924 no problems. Since then I switched over to the Sniper EFI and now use NGK 2756 no problems.
