Default Why Dont They Make The 11 Bolt water Pump/Timing Cover w/Dimple For The Tripower?

As I understand it, the only timing cover that fits the TriPower manifold is the 8 bolt water pump/timing cover. Thats due to the dimple in the back so that the water neck will clear.

So if the 11 bolt is more readily available than the 8 bolt, why not kill two birds with one stone and create a hybrid timing cover with the dimple?

Don

I have an 11-bolt WP with my tripower. Although the dimple got smaller, it was present up into the 70s I believe.

There are many 11 bolt timing covers that have the dimple to clear the tripower. These are the original ones. Not sure if they have it on the reproduction, or later 11 bolt timing covers. If you want a nice clean original with dimple, email me at arayman@aol.com

I have a '74 455 timing cover with the dimple, used it on my last Tri-Power 455. By 1975 the dimple was no longer featured on the timing cover.

Hmm, I was always under the impression that 64-68 timing covers had the dimple and from 69-79 they didnt.

Since we are on the topic. If I go with the 11 bolt timing cover w/dimple, I CANNOT reuse my 66 pulleys, right?? My main concern is cooling for a 462 motor or will the 8 bolt suffice?

Thanks,
Don
