Default Trans Cooler

I am installing a trans cooler to help reduce the water temp in my 69 Firebird 400. My question is should I run the trans cooler in series (as an auxilary) with my radiator or just run the trans cooler as a replacement cooler ? I bought a HD cooler 21,000 GVW that is 18" X 7" X 1-1/2" thick Any help ?

According to what I've been told....run the trans fluid thru the radiator, then the aux cooler....

I've ran a totally separate trans cooler for years...turbo 400, 455, 99.99% street driven. Had no choice when I went to a Griffin aluminum radiator with no built in oil cooler. But why add trans oil heat to your engine coolant and vice versa, unless you drive a lot on cold Fall and Winter days?
