Default Flex Fan Rotation Question

A friend of mine noticed while looking @ Summit, they have fans listed that rotate clockwise and counter clockwise in various diameters from 17-19 inch. Back when he bought his 17 inch flex fan, he never paid any consideration to weather it was clockwise or counter clockwise design. So he has been driving around for a few years with this fan on there and apparently no over heating problems, except for extended highway driving. It would hit 225-230. With the new motor, 455cu he wants to make sure he has the correct fan on the front that rotates counter clockwise and change the diameter to 18 inches or so to fit his 79 Trans Am shroud better. How can he tell if his old fan is clockwise or counter clockwise in design? Can you tell by looking at it? Which pitch/direction is the angle of the fan blades for counter clockwise when viewed from the front of the car? Are there any other ways to tell?

Looking at the fan as from sitting in drivers seat. If the blades are tilted toward the left side then it is a counter clock wise rotation. If blades are tilted toward right side then clock wise rotation. The attached pic is of a counter clock wise rotating fan. (Pontiac)
