Default Brake interchange

I am swapping the 8.2 rear end in my 68 firebird for a 8.5 from a 74 ventura. Will the backing plates from the 8.2 swap onto the 8.5 ?

Will bolt right on, if your 8.2 backing plates @ brakelines have not been unhooked you can unbolt the axle retaining plates, pull the axles out, and bend the tabs up on the axle tubes and carefully slide the backing plates out, then hang them up with coat hangers. by going this route, won't even have to bleed the brakes. With lower shocks unbolted, remove the lower shock mtg plates. Next, with decent sized floor jack, lift the rear by center housing, with a little rocking it will come loose off the rubber insulators, then with a little help, you can wrestle the old rear out, and then slide ithe new 8.5 rear. From behind the car, and again angle one end of the new rear up and over one leaf spring then after sliding the jack sideways, can hop the other end up carefully line everything back up.

Thanks, that was pretty much my plan , but then someone mentioned that the backing plates may be different on the c clip rear verses the bolt in axle rear.
